Breath of the Wild begins with an amnesiac Link awakening to the sound of a feminine voice, rousing him from a strange pod-like device. Directed by the voice to claim the Shiekah Slate resting on a nearby pedestal, he emerges from an underground chamber to find himself on a plateau overlooking a beautiful but desolate Hyrule exploration. He soon encounters a strange old man who offers to trade his paraglider for the spirit orbs held within four nearby Sheikah Shrines, which also unlock various features of the Sheikah Slate. The first Legend of Zelda game to feature sailing as a prominent mechanic was The Wind Waker , and the similarities between its story and the possibility of TOTK 's Hyrule being flooded are difficult to ignore. It's possible that the stories of the two games could be tied together as much as Tears of the Kingdom is with Breath of the Wild . What elevates this tattoo even higher are the small details. The heads of each of the four bosses in Majora’s Mask surround the clock face, echoing the tribal design of Skull Kid. Now, Tears of the Kingdom is showing that players will be able to get even more creative with Link's new abilities, one of which lets him combine any two items for a staggering number of possible combinations. The last ability shown in Tears of the Kingdom 's gameplay demonstration, which can also be seen in previous trailers, is Ascend, which allows Link to go through ceilings, essentially "swimming" through until he reaches the floor above. The ability seemingly doesn't let the player choose an angled trajectory, as the demonstration shows Link shooting directly upwards, and while thin ceilings and platforms will allow Link to phase through almost instantly, others will require more time.
