My key takeaway is the bravery Nintendo has shown when it comes to expanding upon Breath of the Wild with a sequel that not only takes place in the same world, but questions its history and click the characters within it we’ve already come to know and love. In order to defeat Ganon for good, Zelda provides Link with the Bow of Light. The fated enemies battle each other on Hyrule Field, with Link prevailing. As he does, Zelda finally manifests herself physically. The princess uses the last of her divine strength, possibly provided by the Triforce itself, to seal Ganon away once more. She greets Link as the Hero of Hyrule, and asks if he remembers her. Later, on a hill overlooking the remnants of her kingdom, Zelda notes that her divine power seems exhausted, but she can accept this. The gameplay demo shows Link attaching a Tree Branch to a rock and an abandoned pitchfork for long-range, more powerful attack weapons. This tattoo of the Fairy Queen from The Wind Waker has to be the most wholesome Zelda tattoo. The Fairy Queen with her child-like, yet almost alien design, is an unfortunately overlooked character in the Zelda series, but this tattoo does justice to both her power and her adorable appearance. What elevates this tattoo even higher are the small details. The heads of each of the four bosses in Majora’s Mask surround the clock face, echoing the tribal design of Skull Kid. These bosses seem to be emanating clouds of steam that rise up and envelop the moon. Link and Zelda likely spent the months following Breath of the Wild piecing their scattered kingdom back together , the remnants of which have either been repaired or altered in many of the locales spotted throughout the trailer. The towers we once climbed are now surrounded with eerie spotlights, while Hateno’s welcoming atmosphere now is punctured by an aura of fluorescent green energy and a constant darkness that forces its inhabitants to hide away in fear of retaliation. I used to feel welcomed by this place, and now it terrifies me.
This power materialises in an ancient gauntlet that binds itself to Link’s arm, used to phase through environments and move mysterious objects long sat dormant in the sky. Whatever he touches, it burns his arm to a crisp until one final wish from Zelda brings it back from the brink with magic I imagine will have lasting consequences. Is Ganon now bound to Link, or another character entirely being kept ever so close to the game’s chest?
